About us

MACGOLD DIRECT INC. have been, since 1994, helping investors recover their investment losses caused through no fault of their own but through the negligence, misrepresentation or other wrongful acts of their brokers or financial advisors.

The CEO is Robert Goldin, Robert Goldin has been involved, in the financial services industry for over forty years in various capacities. He initially practiced as a securities lawyer and then later as a financial advisor. He is currently a forensic financial auditor and investment dispute consultant, consulting with retail investors on investment loss issues as well as providing the legal profession with expert opinions on securities issues. Robert is also an expert on investment loss insurance i.e. insuring your investments against losses, and is responsible for making the Canadian public aware of the existence of investment insurance for both individual investments and entire portfolios.

  • Investment dispute consultant- representing investors against their brokers and broker’s employers in circumstances where the investor lost money through no fault of their own, but because of the negligence, fraud or other wrongful acts of their broker and their broker’s employers i.e. their brokerage house.

  • Preparation of numerous analytical and expert opinion reports and damages calculations for lawyers dealing with:
    • Breaches of Securities Legislation, Investment Industry (including mutual funds) By-Laws, Rules and Regulations;

  • Alternative dispute resolution services relating to investment disputes, resulting in the successful settlement of disputes.
  • Representation at mediation and arbitration proceedings.
  • Advisor to Ontario Securities Commission Regulatory Burden Task force for “Fair Dealing Model” to consider the re-regulation of financial and investment activities in Canada
  • Founding member of the Ontario Securities Commission's Investor Advisory Committee for two years, which was mandated to:
  • Provide the OSC with input and feed back and raise issues of concern relating to investor/broker relations.
  • Provide observation, advice and recommendations to the OSC.
  • Provide advice and guidance on any aspect of the OSC’s work that has an impact on investors including complaint-handling and compliance issues. 
  • Developed the Efficient Portfolio Theory, which introduces investors to risk-free investing and trading.
  • Developed an investment recovery model for investors who lost money in the mutual fund market timing scandal, to accurately calculate their losses.
  • Made the average investor aware of the existence of insuring investments against losses-------- even though this insurance has been in existence for over 40 years.
  • Public speaker and instructor on investor protection, recovering investment losses, issues affecting investors and insuring investments against losses.
  • Introduced the first Do-It Yourself investment loss recovery program.
  • Explained in an article in the Globe and Mail in simple language how the Credit Default Swap “investment” worked, enabling the average person to understand why the recent world recession happened, and why their financial advisor may be responsible for an investors investment losses.
